Jabal al Qiranah lies in central Jordan, about halfway in between the city of Ma'an in southern Jordan and the Dead Sea. Basaltic lava from Jabal al Qiranah overlies middle Pleistocene fluviatile gravels, which yielded many Acheulian implements (Bender, 1975).
