Lava flows located between the cities of Koksan and Singye were listed as probably active in last 2,000 years by IAVCEI (1973). However, Whitford-Stark (1987) lists it as Pleistocene and Tomita (1967) states there has been no Holocene volcanism on the Korean Peninsula. As summarized by Whitford-Stark (1987): "According to Tomita (1969), this area contains one of the largest lava flows in eastern Asia, being some 45 km from north to south and 20 km from east to west. The flow parallels the Ch'uga-ryong flow to the east, running in a northeast-southwest direction. The lava is of late Pleistocene age and may be associated with a shield volcano." These flows are shown on a map reproduced in Koh et al. (2022) that identifies multiple areas of late Pleistocene extrusive rocks in the central part of the peninsula.
