A group of small rhyolite cones, along the Anyimaqen-Kunlun-Muztagh suture zone between the Songpan-Ganzi and Central Kunlun blocks immediately N of a small 15-km-long mountain range, are mapped as "<1.0 Ma?" (Wang et al., 2016). A sample from this are was collected and analyzed by Jolivet et al. (2003), where the cones are described as follows: "At the eastern end of the basin, the South Kunlun Fault is connected to the main Kunlun Fault by a SW-NE trending normal fault exposed at the edge of a large calc-alkaline granite [Roger et al., 2003], the Wei Xue Shan pluton.... The northern end of this normal fault is connected to a push-up structure through what appears to be an 'open crack' filled with rhyolitic volcanic cones.... The rhyolite is a very clear, fresh, pale pink to white rock mostly composed of millimeter-size quartz grains."
