Rhyolites dated to 1.5 Ma are mapped at the western end of the mostly snow-covered Bukendaban mountains (Wang et al., 2016) NE of Taiyang Lake in Tibet, just S of the Anyimaqen-Kunlun-Muztagh suture zone in the Songpan-Ganzi block. A feature ~75 km SE along the fault zone, described as the Kekexili caldera, was once thought to have been observed in eruption on a satellite photo in 1973; it was later determined to be a meteorological event (Kidd, 1990 pers. comm.).
