The massive, dominantly andesitic, Mount Natib stratovolcano, at the northern end of the Bataan Peninsula, is truncated by a 6 x 7 km caldera. The latest dated (by fission track) eruptive products are 69,000 +/- 27,000 years old (Ebasco Services, 1977), but sampling was not of sufficient detail to determine the date of the most recent eruptions. Although Ruaya and Panem (1991) listed a "Young Volcanics" unit in a late Pleistocene to Holocene stratigraphic group, they noted that the latest eruption was estimated at 90-100,000 years ago. Five thermal areas are present in the summit region.
