The Pomare stratovolcano (also known as Tavani Kutali or Nikalo) on Epi Island is immediately W and outside of the suggested submarine East Epi caldera. Epi Island is largely volcanic, with Mount Allombei on the west, Pomare on the east, and Tavani Ruro forming the SE peninsula. There are three subsidiary cones to the east.
