The Pleistocene Maungatautari stratovolcano is an andesitic-dacitic composite cone about 35 km SE of Hamilton on the North Island of New Zealand. Robertson (1983) reported a single K-Ar age of 1.8 ± 0.10 Ma, which Prentice et al. (2020) noted makes it contemporaneous with subduction-related volcanism of the nearby Alexandra Volcanics and the early Taupo Volcanic Zone.
