Pirongia is an eroded Pliocene-early Pleistocene stratovolcano in the Alexandra Volcanic Group about 27 km SW of Hamilton and 18 km W of Te Awamutu in the Waikato region of North Island, New Zealand. Potassium-Argon dates of 2.25 and 2.06 Ma have been obtained, but flank cones are younger (Briggs, 1983).
