This location was included in IAVCEI (1973) as "mid-Pleistocene." Abdel-Rahman and Lease (2012) identify the area as the Tigris lava flows (basaltic lava flows, with minor pyroclastic flows). They note that it, along with lava flows in the Ardel-Sheikh area, is part of the Tigris Volcanic Field (~1,750 km2).
